What Cards Are Worth
Number cards 2–10 count at face value, J/Q/K count as 10, and an Ace is either 1 or 11.
In blackjack, smart choices pay off. Pick up the rules, get the basics down and join a live or digital table.

The goal: end up nearer to 21 than the dealer without going bust. And unlike plenty of casino games, your choices — hit, stand, double or split — really do change the house edge.
Number cards 2–10 count at face value, J/Q/K count as 10, and an Ace is either 1 or 11.
Both you and the dealer receive two cards, with one dealer card shown face up.
Hit for an extra card, or stand to stay on your current total.
If your hand goes past 21, it loses — no matter what the dealer ends up with.
Get an Ace and a 10-value card as your first two and that's 'blackjack', which normally pays 3:2.
Doubling means twice the bet for exactly one more card; splitting turns a pair into two hands.
These are typical rules. Each table can differ in rules and payouts, so check the game's info panel every time.
Here's a handy cheat sheet for a standard multi-deck table where the dealer must stand on soft 17. Key: H = Hit, S = Stand, D = Double (hit if doubling isn't allowed), P = Split.

Smartphone with a blackjack game on screen
Blackjack developed from older European card games like 'vingt-et-un' (twenty-one) and went on to become a fixture in casinos everywhere. These days it fits a phone screen just as well as a casino table.
Players get to make choices, so sticking closely to basic strategy keeps the house edge below that of many other casino games. How low depends on the rules at each table.
Choose live for real dealers and a sociable atmosphere, or digital for speed and practice. Either way, the rules displayed at the table apply.
The usual slip-ups: buying insurance, standing on soft 17 when a hit is the better move, splitting 10s, and raising bets after losing.
Pay in with accepted payment methods (e.g. local e-wallets, online banking); expect withdrawals to be processed in about typical withdrawal processing time.
A bit of each. Card order is random, yet your decisions shape the long-term result. Basic strategy is a help, but nothing can guarantee winning.
A few practice sessions is usually enough for most people to feel at ease with the chart.
